"A Message from the Drenkul Republic Ministry of Protocol"

The Ministry of Protocol acknowledges that the planetary and federal laws of the Drenkul Republic do not align in all respects with the laws of the United Federation of Planets. Therefore, the Ministry of Protocol, in Cooperation with the Ministry of Peace and the Planetary Ministry of Civic Integrity, has prepared this brief for citizens of the United Federation of Planets who are visitors to planets of the Drenkul Republic.

KANNOK

The following actions are prohibited on the Drenkul Planet of Kannok:

Possession of unregistered citrus fruit: To prevent the spread of plant pests affecting Kannok's citrus agriculture industry, which has been identified as a part of Drenkul Heritage, citrus fruit is subject to strict control in accordance with the Security in Agriculture Act (planetary).

Feeding birds after sunset: In accordance with the Wildlife Preservation Act (planetary), wild bird populations may not be given food of any kind between sunset and sunrise.

Referring to the planetary governor by nickname: In accordance with the Official Designation Compliance Order (planetary), it is prohibited to refer to His Excellency Governor Tekang Adi-Kannok by any informal name.

Possessing and using a musical instrument without a license: In accordance with the Preservation of Drenkul Culture Act (federal), music may only be performed by musicians certified as competent by the Ministry of Culture. Possession of instruments is restricted to certified musicians. Additional certification is required to oversee the training of student musicians.

Touching any publicly displayed art: Preservation of Drenkul Culture Act (federal) and the Public Spaces Integrity Act (planetary), it is forbidden to make physical contact with any piece of art displayed in public spaces, including but not limited to statues, sculptures, and paintings.

Wearing sunglasses in the vicinity of government buildings or indoors: In accordance with the Public Security and Civic Integrity Act (planetary), individuals may not cover their faces through the use of eyewear with tinted lenses (including but not limited to sunglasses) while in any indoor space or while within fifty (50) meters of a federal or planetary government building or police building.

Walking with hands in pockets: In accordance with the Public Security and Civic Integrity Act (planetary), individuals must keep their hands outside of their pockets at all times except when reaching in to retrieve something or to put it back.

Removing anything natural from the beaches of Sector Six: In accordance with both the Preservation of Drenkul Culture Act (federal) and the Wildlife Preservation Act (planetary), no natural material may be removed from the beaches of Kannok Sector Six, which have been identified as a part of Drenkul Heritage. This includes but is not limited to water, sand, rocks, shells, living creatures. The use of public showers to remove natural material from visitors as they leave the beach is mandatory.

Making alterations to traditional Drenkul dishes: In accordance with the Preservation of Drenkul Culture Act (federal), it is prohibited to modify in any way a traditional Drenkul culinary dish, as defined by the Ministry of Heritage and/or the Planetary Ministry of Kannok Affairs. This includes through the removal or addition of ingredients. Personal dietary requirements are not exempted.

Paying gratuity for services rendered: In accordance with the Equitable Pay Act (planetary), all individuals working in the service industry are to be paid a suitable wage. Any additional payment, such as in the form of a gratuity, may be construed as bribery by the purchaser or an attempt to evade taxation by the worker, and is thus prohibited.


The following additional rules are in effect:

Dress codes are in effect for Sectors one, two, four, and six:

o Sector One: In accordance with the Invest In Kannok Act (planetary), all individuals must wear business attire. This must include an attaché case or equivalent.

o Sector Two: In accordance with the Preservation of Drenkul Culture Act (federal), all individuals enlisted in a military or police force must be in full uniform. All civilians must wear formal attire.

o Sector Four: In accordance with the Preservation of Drenkul Culture Act (federal), all individuals must wear traditional Drenkul attire. Any article of clothing or accessory produced outside the Drenkul Republic or produced via non-traditional technique, even if it appears to be traditional Drenkul attire, is prohibited.

o Sector Six: In accordance with the Tourism Act (planetary), all individuals must wear swimwear, including open-toed shoes. The type and style of swimwear is not controlled, as long as it can be accurately described as swimwear (e.g. swimming in ordinary clothes and calling it swimwear is prohibited).

o Addendum: uniforms of any kind outside of official duties are prohibited

Food left uneaten after a meal must be destroyed: in accordance with the Agricultural Sustainment Act (federal), any prepared food left uneaten after a meal must be burned before sunrise of the next day. Any ashes produced from this burning must be sent to the Department of Agriculture Kannok Office for export to Vankulo.

Visitors to any planet of the Drenkul Republic are expected to abide by these laws. Violations identified as accidental by local police forces may result in expulsion from the planet on which the offense was committed or from any planet in the Drenkul Republic. Starfleet Officers found to commit an offense may be ordered to return to their ship and remain there for the duration of that ship's time in Drenkul territory. Violations identified as having been committed due to ignorance may, depending on circumstances, still be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law. Violations identified as having been committed willfully will be prosecuted regardless of citizenship of the alleged offender.
